„On our small, family-owned farm in Peru we believe that nature knows best. Everything we do is sustainable and organic. Our coffee trees grow beneath the tropical sun, well protected by the shade of the native flora. And we never use any chemicals as they can damage the surrounding ecosystem. Our precious hand-picked harvest is handled with great care.“ Thomas Schwegler

„Respect makes better tasting coffee“
Tropical Mountains was founded in 2006 by Swiss philanthropist Thomas Schwegler and his Peruvian wife Gisella. Their premium coffee originates from their own family run farm in the Western Andes. They are committed to investing a part of their turnover into the local village, supporting schools and vital community projects. Their sustainable production method and their complete value chain have been certified by the World Fair Trade Organization and the PE-BIO-149 label for Tropical Mountains organic farming methods.
„On our small, family-owned farm in Peru we believe that nature knows best. Everything we do is sustainable and organic. Our coffee trees grow beneath the tropical sun, well protected by the shade of the native flora. And we never use chemicals as they can damage the surrounding ecosystem.
The beans are hand-picked. We support our workers and their families, because we consider them a part of our family too. The precious harvest is handled with great care.
Respecting the coffee trees, local farmers and environment all lead to a mind-blowing cup of coffee with a flavor that is truly gourmet.
Most of us do not realize that the cup of grind we drink in five minutes requires years of hard work. At least 3 years are necessary before the first beans can be harvested and an additional 2 to 3 years will bring the plant to its full production capacity. However, patience has its virtues.“
Tropical Mountains has effectively achieved international recognition when it was awarded a gold medal at Germany’s largest espresso and coffee competition earlier this year.
